8 Days of Community 2024-2025

The second flame burns with a passion. It is fueled by the Jewish Federation’s tireless advocacy for the Jewish community in our local schools and government.

With your help, our JCRC (Jewish Community Relations Committee) builds interfaith relationships, speaks out against antisemitism, and supports local Jewish children in feeling safe and proud to be Jewish at school.

The third flame radiates with a sense of togetherness.

With your help, we bring Jewish people together in times of tragedy, including a community-wide vigil on October 8, 2023, and in times of joy, like NEXTGen A2’s Friendsgiving Shabbat for Ann Arbor area young adults.

The fourth flame glows warmly for the Jewish Federation’s dedication to nurturing the physical, emotional, and mental health of our community.

Your support makes possible vital care for older adults, including the 26,000 “Kosher Meals on Wheels” delivered by our partners at Jewish Family Services in the last year, and their WISE at the J social programs that combat social isolation.

The fifth flame flickers for the people of Israel.

With Jewish communities across North America, you helped raise an extraordinary $850 million to support the recovery and rebuilding of Israelis in the aftermath of the October 7th attacks. And there is still more to do.

The sixth flame burns brightly for our continued vigilance in the face of antisemitism.

With your support of the LiveSecure Initiative, an initiative in addition to the Annual Community Campaign, the Jewish Federation helps to fund building upgrades for our synagogues and communal spaces and works to implement best practices to keep our Jewish community safe, wherever we are.

The seventh flame shines with compassion for our global Jewish family, reminding us of our sacred responsibility to care for each other.

With your help, the greater Ann Arbor Jewish Federation funds essential services across stages of life, including for at-risk youth in Israel and older adults living in poverty in the Former Soviet Union.

On the eighth night, with the menorah fully ablaze, we marvel at its radiant glow, symbolizing the flourishing communities we build together. This Chanukah, join us in lighting the way forward.
