Come hear the survivor story of Jenny, Oz, and their children, residents of Kibbutz Zikim. Their presentation will be followed by opportunities to engage together for processing and offering messages of hope. Light refreshments will be served.
Jenny and Oz Naor are Kibbutz members from Kibbutz Zikim, survivors from the October 7th brutal attack on the south of Israel.
Jenny is an IT director for NGO “Or Shalom.” Oz is a tech and operations Project manager at the Weitzman institute. They are parents of 3: Maya (10), Bar (8) and Ofir (4).
Oz was born in Kibbutz Zikim, a grandson of the Kibbutz founders. He has lived there all his life. Jenny joined the Kibbutz shortly after her military service when meeting Oz. The young couple built a life together and started a family in the quiet Kibbutz located on the south beaches in Israel.
On October 7, Jenny and Oz woke up to a life changing event when a brutal attack occurred on the Kibbutz as terrorists came through from the sea. Oz, the squad leader of the civilian guard, fought bravely with his squad and was able to block the attack and overpower the terrorists. He helped repel the terrorists while dozens of families, including his own, were locked in safe rooms in their houses for hours, cut off from cellular reception, and unaware of what was happening outside and how deadly this day would be. Although the battle in Kibbutz Zikim ended in a small victory, the attack was deadly in other kibbutzes, resulting in a personal tragedy.
Before engaging in IT careers, Oz and Jenny were community Shlichim in Akron – Canton Ohio for 3 years (2010 -2013) and are familiar with public speaking engagements in English. Jenny, Oz and their children are coming for a short visit to Ohio to share their story of the October 7th events.
