You can’t build a fire station during a fire.

The fire station must be in place, staffed and equipped, so that when an emergency happens, you are prepared to respond.

A year ago last Friday, Russia invaded Ukraine, ruthlessly attacking civilians, decimating its infrastructure, and creating a massive refugee crisis. The Federation system responded strongly and quickly with every single Jewish Federation in North America – all 146 communities – contributing to a total of $85 million. That’s nearly a quarter of a million dollars per day to alleviate suffering throughout Ukraine, the Former Soviet Union, and Eastern Europe.

These dollars made possible:

  • 500,000 people received humanitarian relief
  • 700,000 meals distributed
  • 65,000 people supported in rebuilding their lives by making aliyah
  • 130,000 people received medical care
  • 4,000 medical and mental health professionals trained

We were only able to make this impact because of the many “fire stations” we’d built and supported for years.

Today, our Federation continues to plan and build the infrastructure to care for and sustain our community locally, in Israel, and in Jewish communities in need around the world for years to come. We are one of thousands of Jewish fire stations that can and do respond whenever we are called upon to do so.

Thank you for your role in making that possible.

L’Shalom,
