Sunday, March 21 was a gorgeous day in Ann Arbor.  It was a testament to the speaker, Alan Cotzin, that in spite of the terrific weather, The Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Ann Arbor’s program “Assuring A Jewish Ann Arbor: Preparing to Develop or Review Your Estate Plan” had 38 participants “zoomed” in to watch live!

Alan has been an active member in the Ann Arbor Jewish community for 40 over years and worked for 30 years at the University of Michigan as a director of Major and Planned Giving. There was a wide range on attendees from different ages and stages of life.

The program encouraged discussion about priorities with one’s partner when considering a legacy, helped prepare people to meet with advisors to formalize an estate plan, and also suggested how to enhance the estate planning process. Alan tailored his program to different age groups, helping all think about what needs to be done for ourselves, our aging parents, and even for kids coming into adulthood.

Art and Mary Schuman were in attendance and after the program emailed unsolicited feedback on the program stating “That was a great program this morning with Alan! We also really like that resources and information are going to be added to the [Foundation] website…Alan was very informative and is a great communicator.”
